Needs a dedicated "history" page edit

something that talks about the last two generations compared to the current generation and release dates for each iteration of the laptop — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.208.30.111 (talk) 06:44, 2 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 30 July 2020 edit

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: page moved to ThinkPad X1 series. (I'm assuming the difference in capitalization of the "P" was a mistake, given the {{Requested move/dated}} template I used to move the page utilized the capital "P" and the capital "P" is used in the previous title.) I'm assessing this as a move request, and not about the merge discussion which occurred during the request involving the broader title, which can occur in a new discussion if need be. ThinkPad X1 CarbonThinkpad X1 series – "Carbon" is a sub-line naming (all sub-lines is: X1, X1 Carbon, X1 Extreme, X1 Yoga, X1 Tablet) 46.138.9.100 (talk) 17:49, 30 July 2020 (UTC)Relisting. Jerm (talk) 03:44, 9 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

There is also the question whether X1 products should not be included on the X page. 217.162.74.13 (talk) 14:03, 1 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
So, for my opinion, the "X series" and "X1 series" is a optimal names, because all X* models (e.g. tablets, transformers, regular laptops and ultrabooks) can be simply placed with their marketing naming. Internal links is a solvers of some collision models (e.g. 2011's X1). Also, the "X series" page is a overgrown article. ThisIsNotABetter (talk) 22:50, 1 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Probably the X page should only briefly mention the original X1. 217.162.74.13 (talk) 22:50, 9 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
I had to add X1 tablets and convertibles there because this page is only for Carbon. 217.162.74.13 (talk) 22:52, 9 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
The discussion has been relisted but we're all agreeing that the page should be moved. 217.162.74.13 (talk) 23:02, 9 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Support move as proposed, but oppose merge with Thinkpad X series. This line of X1s is marketed separately and seems to have its own clear characteristic set.  — Amakuru (talk) 12:56, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Additional comment: I've just noticed that the move proposal capitalises as "Thinkpad". I assume that's just a typo or a mistake, but to be clear my support is for a move to ThinkPad X1 series. Hopefully this is not controversial!  — Amakuru (talk) 14:08, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment Nobody suggested merging the X1 page into the X page. The question is what X1 information should be repeated on the latter. 217.162.74.13 (talk) 14:01, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
I don't really have a strong opinion on that topic, as long as this page is kept separate. Do what you think best!  — Amakuru (talk) 14:08, 20 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

X1 Carbon gen 3 table change and model numbers proposal edit

I was thinking about adding the model numbers to the tables, but when I looked at the PSREF sheet I noticed that the three different displays meant different dimensions, and down the OCD rabbit hole I went. Before I make any changes I thought I would ask for feedback on A) the way I went about dealing with variants with different dimensions, and B) if the model numbers are something that can be included in the Model column (as I have done, "20BS* 20BT*) or if they should be in their own column. Draft table is in my sandbox: User:Wikkiwonkk/sandboxWikkiwonkk (talk) 08:23, 31 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

X1 Carbon Gen 1 SSD Type is incorrect edit

The first gen X1 Carbon does NOT use an M.2 drive. It is a proprietary Sandisk 20+6 pin connector.
