Move? edit

I was unaware of the previous definition put forth by Jentsch. In light of this definition, should the article be moved from 'The Uncanny (Freud)' to 'The Uncanny (psychology)' or something along those lines? --Thaddius 19:13, 2 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, but theoretically, this article should be about the Freud essay 'The Uncanny', rather than simply the underlying philosophy. --anonymous 13:04, 11 Feb 2007

I agree, I was actually hoping that such topics could be added\expanded once I started the article, even though the essay is a long winded description of the philosophy the page defines. I'm afraid I do not know much of the essay itself though. --Thaddius 15:46, 13 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Abjection edit

Whom is the notion of the abject discussed in the article associated with? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.231.18.25 (talkcontribs) 7 March 2007

Please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~). As for the abject, the article on the abject clearly states that the term was defined in the work of one Julia Kristeva, an apparent psychoanalytic feminist (kind of a contradiction of terms), but its talk page states that Aldous Huxley used the word, previous to Kristeva, in Brave New World. If anything I'd attribute it to Kristeva. Hope that helps. --Thaddius 15:32, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unheimlich? edit

I was wondering if there could be a redirect to this page for "unheimlich"...I've studied Freud and have found that unheimlich tends to be used more often than the English translation...but I'm not sure how to do the redirect myself. (New to wikipedia) Cadence3 (talk) 00:01, 3 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's now redirected. Unheimlich. --Thaddius (talk) 12:02, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
