Another Aspect of the Novel is Criticism of Bush edit
In this novel, Burke takes a number of gratuitous slaps at Bush, but never mentions the horrible job done during Hurricane Katrina by the Louisiana governor and the mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin. There was plenty of blame to be passed around, for Democrats and Republicans, for the failures in the wake of Katrina. And many critics pointed out that the people of New Orleans could have evacuated, or taken bus transport out, or even walked out.
