TV Series to novel edit

I'm going to adapt this into an article about the novel with a link at the top to The Secret of Crickley Hall (TV series) along with a section referring to its adaptation into a TV series. The plot may need adjusting to compensate, as I haven't read the book, someone who has may need to tweak this themselves. I hope this resolves the problem of having two articles about the same thing. Let me know if there are any objections to this. ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 12:05, 23 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Excellent idea! – I have been worrying about this since posting at TV series yesterday (!) – certainly no objections from me. Thank you very much. Sincerely, -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 12:51, 23 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Post script: ... and you won't need to change the title of the article. Cheers! -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 13:09, 23 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the support! Had the novel been famous without the TV series an article with this exact name would already have been created six years ago, so we're basically just back-tracking. ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 17:27, 23 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
True. A chance to begin what should be a worthwhile project. I shall get hold of the novel. I would be pleased to copy-edit the plot sumary. -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 17:40, 23 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, that would be brilliant! I've removed cast from the plot and overview (which are probably the same thing so something needs sorting out there) and started a section which can be expanded to summarise the adaptation, cover the differences between the two and mention the new 2012 edition which is being marketed as a tie-in to the series [1]. We also need to go mad on references... I also need a coffee... ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 18:34, 23 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
As the are some major differences between the novel and the TV series I will have to re-read the book for all the nuances but have corrected the article to reflect the geographical location — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tadpole1965 (talkcontribs) 21:57, 6 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Publishing dates edit

There seems to be a discrepancy regarding publishing dates. Both Amazon and WorldCat state this book was released in 2007; Amazon being more specific with 26 April 2007.[2] However, without verification, the James Herbert article says it was slated for release in April 2006 and delayed until October, presumably of the same year. Should we go with what we can verify or is there anything anywhere that backs up the earlier dates? ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 18:41, 23 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • I suggest staying with October 2006 to agree with Herbert's article – I shall buy the book tomorrow and that will give the publishing information. Shall tell you once I know. Cheers! -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 19:15, 23 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
The book says it was first published by Macmillian in 2006 and then by Pan Books in 2007 Scampi69 (talk) 22:25, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes, thanks for that, Scampi69. That explains the anomoly. Cheers! -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 22:40, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

The Secret of Crickley Hall on BBC One edit

Good evening User:Vimes79,
I congratulate you on your fantastically prompt copy-editing to provide an overview and a plot summary here for the first episode in under less than a whole day after the broadcast on BBC television. There has been a change (because two articles were created – both on 19 November) and this should all be made clear when you link here.
I am sure we will want your good work in continuing to contribute, but instead at The Secret of Crickley Hall (TV series). Cheers! -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 19:09, 23 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
