Information via correspondence with Richard Hartley

Recently I've had some personal correspondence with Richard Hartley regarding the soundtrack and I have updated the article accordingly. I don't know if this has been spoken about in print or interviews so I can't provide direct links to reference it, but this is what I've been told via email:

The main bit of information sourced from this correspondence is the identity of Rocky's vocalist; while Trevor White of course provides Rocky's singing in the film, it's actually a completely different singer, Brian Engel, on the album. In short, Brian Engel provided Rocky's singing during the soundtrack recording sessions along with the rest of the cast before filming commenced (he was also one of the backing vocalists on the soundtrack), but during post production it was decided to replace him with another singer i.e. Trevor White. However, the replacement vocals were recorded during the dubbing process straight onto film rather than the songs' multi-track tapes and were never transferred over, so for the album they had to use Brian Engel's original vocals instead for "Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch Me" and "Floor Show" while "The Sword of Damocles" was dropped from the album in part because of this vocal switch. The mystery singer on the Absolute Treasures version of "The Sword of Damocles" is Brian Engel - it's his original vocal as heard on the song's master tape before Trevor White replaced him in the film.

Also sourced from this correspondence is the identity of the uncredited backing vocalists - the ones previously listed on the article (Abigale Haness, Susan Morse, Bruce Scott) were just copied over from the Roxy cast recording and had no involvement with the film soundtrack. Edit: one thing I forgot to mention from this correspondence is Meat Loaf's involvement with the backing vocals; he wasn't asked to sing any but he joined in anyway with the others, so he can be heard singing backing vocals on the soundtrack (he can be clearly heard on "Time Warp" for instance). 82.45.90.235 (talk) 17:53, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
