THIS IS A PAGE FOR PROMOTE THE BAND. I'm not violating the terms of Wikipedia. This is annoying, I want to create a page and you exclude? STOP, the internet is free for all things...

Sorry but please see WP:NOT, using Wikipedia to promote your band is not allowed. Zad68 22:50, 5 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of The Narrative Music

edit

A tag has been placed on The Narrative Music requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Murilo Grillo (talk) 22:44, 5 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... Ben, the band is not well known, and created the page to disclose them and that their work is recognized worldwide. Not infringe any term of Wikipedia, all the search terms are present in GOOGLE and other sites, in a free for all people. Please, don't exclude this page, it's so important for me and for the band. Thanks --Murilo Grillo (talk) 23:00, 5 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Did you read WP:NOT? Do it, please. Really. Also read WP:N, when you say "the band is not well known" you are giving the reason why it should not have a Wikipedia article at this time. Zad68 23:01, 5 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

This page should not be speedily deleted because... I just created this page to publicize the work of a band at no profit and no disclosure of premises or sites to purchase. The page is just to promote the band and show your work to the world, the band knows that page is being created, if you want to contact them thenarrativemusic@gmail.com... --Murilo Grillo (talk) 00:37, 6 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Notes format

edit

I strongly prefer the section header "Notes" to the (admittedly more common) "References". This is because this list is in fact not a list of references -- that would be a bibliography or list of works cited -- but is a collection of footnotes, usually for citation purposes. (It is unfortunate that this list is created by the references tag or the {{reflist}} template, but it is still not a list of references."Notes" is listed in WP:CITE#Fotnotes (which says: This section is placed at or near the bottom of the article and is usually titled "Notes" or "References.") I use that form when I create such a section, and ask that editors not change it without discussion.

For a short notes section, I think the format produced by a bare references tag is preferable to the {{reflist}} format. This format is also listed as acceptable in WP:CITE#Fotnotes. However, here I do not feel strongly enough to revert before discussing the matter. DES (talk) 05:30, 6 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

While the 'reflist' template is flexible, I don't have any strong preference. In the context of Wikipedia, WP:FNNR permits the adoption of 'Notes' or 'References' to accommodate the in-line citations, although I generally follow the convention of using the former for explanatory footnotes and the latter for specific references. If writing an article for publication, I would ordinarily adopt Harvard/MHRA referencing, employ 'Notes' for any explanatory footnotes, and include any works referenced under 'Works cited'. Whatever the preference or rationale, I hadn't intended interference, but merely to apply a series of uncontroversial, minor changes to improve and rearrange the foot of the article. Absolutepunk.net

edit

A google search shows the Absolutepunk.net showcase in the google summery of one hit, but when you follow the link the showcase seems to have been removed from the site. I guess we'll need to use the wayback machine to source this?? DES (talk) 21:06, 9 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
