Regarding episode delay

So for those who haven't heard yet- the episode was delayed in the US due to the rain-delayed baseball game, and it still aired in Canada as scheduled, so there are spoilers online. What should be done here regarding that? Should we include the episode information here using sources via Canadian-aired sources, or shall we hold off on it as this series is primarily American? If the latter, I'm thinking a semi-protection may be needed to prevent IPs from posting the information in. Thoughts? Magitroopa (talk) 13:24, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

If anyone hasn't done it yet, there should be a mentioning that the episode was pre-empted in the United States because of a delay in the baseball game. Right? Outside of that, I don't know if they will still air the episode in question on another day. FOX has got to come up with a solution. --Rtkat3 (talk) 14:42, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

I will state this once again so this can be done speedily as we should not set a precedent that information should be held off when it has been officially released before. The episode not airing in the US is not grounds to remove encyclopedic information from the page. Similar to when the episode airs on the east coast first, adding information to the page is not paused until it airs on the west coast. Per WP:Spoiler: "It is not acceptable to delete information from an article because you think it spoils the plot." As Anon said, this information is publicly available as it has aired in other regions. Yes this is the American version of the Masked Singer, however, it was this version and episode that aired on 10/12/22 in Canada. This is the same thing as if it were to air at an earlier time zone. According to WP:Spoiler "The same reasoning for including spoilers when appropriate in articles on works of fiction applies to other types of "spoilers" as well; for example, the optimal strategy for games such as tic-tac-toe, the workings of magic tricks, the solutions to logic puzzles, the answers to riddles, the results of reality television programs, and live radio and television events broadcast on a delay in certain areas of the world such as the Eurovision Song Contest and the Olympics.". Because of this I agree with Anon that the edits should be reverted to what they had edited and the page should not be restricted because their edits are not considered vandalism. I say leave it as is, no need to add it when the show IS American. The episode airing at different time zones is complete different from it airing on different days/weeks. SecondLooneyaccount (talk)

I think the main issue here is more than simply differing time zones within the same country- this is an episode that aired as regularly scheduled outside the country of origin, and was delayed a week within the country of origin. Canada has their own show, but this article is regarding the American series.

Two other things: 1) I think the main issue with citing WP:SPOILER is that it moreso has to do with things that have aired. The US, again, the country of origin, still has yet to air the episode. 2) The episode airs in the US tomorrow night. Do we really need this much of a debate when it's not that far away?...
