There are now four "Invasion" movies. The first one in the fifties was a McCarthy piece of paranioa. The best was the 78 version by Philip Kaufman "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers". That is a sci-fi film-noir horror masterpiece. It is a nonstop paranoid mind trip. There was a third version in the 80's. The latest version is a bomb! It is a badly mangled piece of filmmaking. The original German director was taken off the film by Joel Silver because according to Silver the director made a cerebral thinking mans version. Silver then brought the Wachowski Brothers to write a new script. He then brought the director of "V for Vendetta" to make a more action packed movie. The paranoia and suspense in this movie is so bland that there is no genuine sense of excitement. The film tanked big time at the box office because it was a cynical exercise in filmmaking, and the audience sniffed out a smelly egg and stayed away in droves. It would have been better for Silver to have gone with the original cut by the German director who made the brilliant "Downfall" instead of the lemon Silver tried to con the paying public with. Also the ending to this film was a massive copout. It seemed like it was created by cynical marketing people at Warner Brothers then instead by real filmmakers. HARRY GEORGATOS.
