Talk:The Highwayman (TV series)

Overhaul edit

I have completely overhauled and updated this entry, giving a deteailed synopsis, episode guide with full cast, pictures, etc. I hope it meets with everyones approval. =) (BTW, although this is not the place, if anyone has a copy of the episode "Warzone", the only one I am missing, please get in touch; I have the rest of the series, and other shows, to trade). Thanks for the overhaul. This is such a forgotten series, I didn't think anyone had more info to contribute. I'd love to see the series again, but I doubt it will ever come out on DVD. I heard though, a rumor about a video company who has been trying to find obscure short-run TV series like this one to bring to DVD, buying the rights from the original producers who really don't want to waste their time with them. Anyway, I hope shows like Highwayman and Automan get released! Hell, they could at least put them on the iTunes video store or something at least. Cyberia23 20:24, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I had a few episodes left on VHS from when the series was shown in the U.K., and recently got copies of the rest of the series (just missing aforementioned "Warzone" now!). So it seemed like a good time to give it a decent Wikipedia entry. =) Jay Firestorm 22:47, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I found a company that sells old shows on DVD - you can tell it's VHS transfers, but it's better than nothing. :-) http://www.goldmonkey.com/ They don't list it now, but that's where I got it. Now if I could find Rollerjam... Jimmylogan0916 04:04, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Episode order edit

Episode Prod. # Airdate Order?
"Terror on the Blacktop" (pilot) 5L79 1987-09-20 0
"Billionaire Body Club" 8801 1988-04-15 7
"The Hitchhiker" 8802 1988-03-11 2
"Road Ranger" 8803 1988-03-04 1
"Haunted Highway" 8804 1988-05-06 4
"'Til Death Duel Us Part" 8805 1988-03-18 3
"Summer of '45" 8806 1988-04-01 5
"Warzone" 8807 1988-04-29 8
8808
8809
8810
"Send in the Clones" 8811 1988-04-08 6
"Frightmare" 8812 1988-04-22 9

This is the intended air-date order for "Haunted Highway" & "Frightmare".

The episode production numbers raise some questions?

  1. What happened to numbers 8808 – 8810?
  2. Should the episodes be watched in production order instead of air-date order?
  3. The article says Jetto got his new truck in the first episode; was this the first episode aired, or the first produced?
  4. If so, what kind of truck does Jetto drive in #s 8801 & 8802?

The episodes are generally intended to be watched in broadcast order. For example, Jetto gets his new truck in "Road Ranger", even though it is already seen in the previously-filmed "Billionaire Body Club" and "The Hitchhiker", so "Road Ranger" is the best one to watch first. It's not uncommon for such shows to be filmed out of order, often they're worked around actors availabilty and suchlike.

As for 8808-8810, there are no such episodes. Possibly there was a break in production, or the scripts were finished but the episodes never filmed, again quite common in such shows. Hope this helps! =) Jay Firestorm 12:21, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Production order edit

As someone said about there being a gap in the episodes it was there because at the time there was a writers strike at NBC and since The Highwayman only had a few episodes under its belt and while it was bringing in good ratings they werent high enough to justify more episodes because of the huge production costs.

Also I am on a hunt to find out what Jetto's truck is, it is not a Steinwinter, I am absolutely sure of that, I am 99% sure it is one those plane haulers from the Airport, anyone feel like Contacting Mr. Larson?!?!?!?! and why isnt there a good website out there for The Highwayman like this brilliant one for Streethawk along with its forum www.streethawkonline.com. We cant let this show die out.

I am trying to find out how to contact michael scheffe who desgined the trucks in the Highwayman and also KITT from Knight Rider. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ducatidesmo (talkcontribs) 10:38, 4 March 2007 (UTC).Reply
