Spurious or fake diary circa 1930's edit

I am astonished that this fraud seems to have been accepted in all seriousness by Suzanne Beedell and others. No one who has read just a few diaries or commonplace books of the 18th century can possibly be fooled by it. It is full of little errors and seems to be written in a phonetic "Mummerset" rendering of turn-of-the-century (1800) English. I note that the editor refers to the "typescript" and not to any original manuscript. I am sure that Mrs Jean Preston, who was presumably the author, derived enormous pleasure from seeing it serialised in the Farmer's Weekly Home Section, and I hope she survived long enough to see the hardback edition in print. The word "typescript" does not appear in this article, and Jeanne Preston died in 1952. Is there anything written in this article with which you disagree? Ghmyrtle (talk) 12:25, 11 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
