Talk:The Bridge Wars

Latest comment: 6 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

I've moved this page away from 'hip hop rivalries' as I feel that there is more than enough information on this topic to justify it's own entry. It's also a rather important event in hip hop history and I feel at the very least it deserves it's own entry, particularly as the hip hop rivalries entry made no reference to the name 'The Bridge Wars', it's most common title.

It's a work in progress at the moment, I've just neatened it up, added a little bit of extra information an put it on it's own entry, but I'll finish it up in the next few days. Ianwarren 00:38, 6 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Additions questions edit

Are people really sure that:

1) The "Moshitup" lines were really a response to Butchy B? The words sound like they could be addressing anybody, and the dadidadiday reference sounds like it is for anyone who tries to bite from KRS, not Butchy B's mockery of it.

2) "Juice Crew Law" was really an attempt to restart the rivalry, and aimed at KRS. This one went up a long time ago, and I never challenged it, but it does seem a bit too ambiguous. Many of the ego raps from that period were aimed at nobody in particular, but were basically pretending to be battling a hypothetical foe. (which is why it took a long time for me to realize many of LL's hits were aimed at Kool Moe Dee. They just sound like any other "ego" rap).Eric B 23:49, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I should also add that we need more sources, especially for claims such as this. You should see the trouble I just went through trying to put back the LL Cool J - Kool Moe Dee battle article. I had written it in the vein of this article, with lyrics, and the relevant recors, and it was tagged AfD four minutes after I first posted it! They would not accept any of those things as sources, and neither online references such as FOUNDATION, blogsites, etc. So it was down in a week. I was basically given a list of books and had to take an old fashioned hike to the library. I add the references and put it back up, and now it does not seem to be getting challenged. I was so surprised that that one would be jumped on and so quickly, as this article and several others in the hip hop rivalries category were the same way, and we have stuffed them with all sorts of unsourced or poorly sourced statements and lyrics (which apparently are not accepted), and are not challenged. But there are rabid "deletionists" out there demanding perfect articles, and if they find this, it could be history! (Which is why I have not added "sources needed" tags. Don't want to bring any attention). So keep this in mind, and try to source these statements (many of the books I added as sources for LL/Moe Dee also mention this battle).Eric B (talk) 14:14, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yep, this still needs a rewrite. 86.44.27.255 (talk) 06:55, 5 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

OK, did a major cleanup. Way too much speculation, and way too many lyrics; I believe even the entire "Beat U Down"! I started some of that back then, but have since become more accustomed to the Wikipedia guidelines, and this is really no place for all that stuff. Seeing now the LL-Moe Dee article I mentioned above is gone again! Don't know why, but I'm actually really so surprised no one ever came after this one as well, and the tag just stayed up for years. It can still use more references, but for now, it's been trimmed as best as I could.Eric B (talk) 02:05, 22 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
