Not my interpretation of lyrics
editPardon me, but I don't agree with this interpretation of the lyrics. To me this is a story told by a man talking about his own feelings. The man sees himself as an actor, not literally but figuratively, going through the motions of his own life -- all the world's a stage and we are merely players, etc. In the scene he's thinking about, someone is shouting to be free. Perhaps the woman he loves wants to leave him. That would explain the remorseful chorus. This is just my opinion. Whatever the meaning, it's a great song, haunting melody and a nice wistful mood.
