Hello. I will be reviewing this article. Steelkamp (talk) 14:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Good article criteria edit

Criteria 1 edit

  Well written

  • Change Nintendo Wi-Fi to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Steelkamp (talk) 15:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • An installment of the Tetris series – Is it more of a family of games than a series? Steelkamp (talk) 15:18, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  •   Done Replaced with "franchise" to be more accurate.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 17:54, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • He stated that Nintendo was given a great deal of creative freedom in designing the game, calling the game's producer, Hitoshi Yamagami, "one of the smartest game designers I know", and stating that he had "complete confidence in him", confirming that there had been no issues combining Nintendo properties and characters with Tetris. – This is a really long sentence. Can you break it up into multiple. Steelkamp (talk) 15:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • THQ had been developing the game since late 2004 but was prevented from releasing the game in March 2005 by The Tetris Company, resulting in a legal complaint. – This is vague. Which party is making the complaint. What was the complaint about specifically. Steelkamp (talk) 15:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • In 2016, the website The Cutting Room Floor discovered – Its awkward having two "the"s so close together like that. I suggest replacing "the website" with "gaming website". Or alternatively, remove "the website" altogether, since the website is wikilinked. Steelkamp (talk) 15:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Could the "Legacy" section be incorporated in the "Reception" section? Or as a subsection under that section, because it is pretty much about the game's reception, but several years after release. Steelkamp (talk) 15:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • There are too many subsections under the "Gameplay" section. Merge all into the same section, with each mode as a separate paragraph. It breaks the flow of the text to have eight different sections no more than two small paragraphs long each. Steelkamp (talk) 15:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • I would remove the In Japan from the reception section, as it implies that reviews from the United States are the default. Steelkamp (talk) 15:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Yoshi and donkey kong aren't mentioned in the article aside from the lead. Mario as well, aside from the image caption. The image caption says The game's standard mode, featuring a scene from Super Mario Bros. on the top screen. I think more can be elaborated on the standard mode in the prose, since this image caption says something about a Super Mario Bros. theme. Steelkamp (talk) 15:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  •   Done. Talked about the different modes within the article and cited using one of the reviews. It doesn't mention Balloon Fight for some reason, so I left that out for now, but it confirms the others.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 22:11, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Criteria 2 edit

  Verifiable with no original research

  • I question reference 14 (the EGM review reference). Where does the 7.83 come from? Is it a magazine or website reference. I can't see a page 108 on the website. Steelkamp (talk) 16:16, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  •   Done Replaced the website ref with a direct copy of the magazine article. You can tell that the average of the 3 scores is 7.83 by looking at the article.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 18:10, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • By July 25, 2007, Tetris DS had sold 2.05 million copies worldwide, with over 1 million of them sold in Japan alone. – Reference doesn't support the second half of this sentence. Steelkamp (talk) 16:16, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  •   Done Added source that proved it was close to 1 million in Japan, even though I couldn't find one proving it surpassed 1 million (although it almost certainly did).ZXCVBNM (TALK) 18:55, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Criteria 3 edit

  Broad in its coverage

  • By July 25, 2007, Tetris DS had sold 2.05 million copies worldwide, with over 1 million of them sold in Japan alone. – Any more recent sales figures? Any further sales figures breakdowns by region (e.g. NA, EU, AU)? Any date or month when production of the game stopped? Steelkamp (talk) 15:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  •   Not done. I could not find this information. Sadly, there is only up to date info on the top 10 DS games, and Tetris DS did not crack it. If someone manages to find it, they're free to add it.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 19:09, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Are there any other awards other than the one there? Steelkamp (talk) 15:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • I think the "Development" section could be larger. Is it known when development started? When was the game announced? When was the game released? I know that is in the lead, but the information in the lead should be in the rest of the article as well. Steelkamp (talk) 15:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  •   Done. Added announcement and release dates, although there's no info on when development started. Based on the competing Tetris game that got cancelled, it most likely started in Early 2005, although there is nothing proving this so it cannot be included.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 19:26, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Are there any more reviews from European organisations to put in prose? As the game's second or third largest market, I think there should be more than one. Steelkamp (talk) 15:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  •   Done. Added a couple of European publications and their scores.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 22:11, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • I think the personnel listed in the infobox should be in a paragraph in the development section as well. There, they can have an inline citation to solve the problem that they need to be referenced. Steelkamp (talk) 15:48, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  •   Not done. I don't know if there's enough development information to make that not seem like a run-on list of names. "So-and-so directed, so-and-so designed", and so on. The full credits can be sourced to here.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 22:16, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Criteria 4 edit

  Neutral

Article mentions the good and the mixed reviews. Rest of the article is fine. This article passes criteria 4. Steelkamp (talk) 15:18, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Criteria 5 edit

  Stable

There are no edit wars or content disputes ongoing. This article passes criteria 5. Steelkamp (talk) 15:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Criteria 6 edit

  Illustrated, if possible

Understandably, there aren't many images due to copyright. The two images there have acceptable free use rationales, and certainly are relevant. This article passes criteria 6. Steelkamp (talk) 15:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

General comments edit

I have placed the review on hold while you address the concerns I raised. Steelkamp (talk) 16:18, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Steelkamp: I addressed most of your concerns. A few were not done due to a lack of info, so I'd appreciate further feedback on whether they are truly necessary or if there is some kind of alternative. Thank you.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 22:17, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
