What I changed edit

I should clarify that I changed the 'Content' order, not the 'Category' order on my Terrace edit note earlier. It's starting to come into line, but more demographic information is needed.--Keefer4 04:27, 26 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Terrace arms.PNG edit

Image:Terrace arms.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:50, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

gemlog changed the elevation listed from 80 --> 67 metres. I live here and did this after measuring my last hike in Google Earth and here is another ref: http://bccommunities.ca/terrace/index.php —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gemlog (talkcontribs) 05:22, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

More footnotes and George Little article needed edit

There should probably be more inline citations, rather than external links in the body of this article. Even after I added one there's still only 2 footnotes. Also, if anyone begins an article on George Little, there's an interesting story on him in Steamboats of the Skeena River where he rescues a survivor from the wreck of the Mount Royal (sternwheeler). I'd start an article on Little, but I don't really have any good sources of Terrace history on hand. But I'll help out if someone gets a stub started.CindyBotalk 01:26, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Caledonia Alumni Website edit

I have been runnig the Caledonia Alumni Website now for over 8 years. This site provides a valuable resource for many of us who would like to stay in touch with our friends from Terrace even though many of us have moved away. I think it is a very appropriate link on the Terrace website since it is the only Senior Secondary in Terrace. Please do not remove it from this wikipeidia article. The site is completely non-profit, with no commercial intent, it is a gathering place for those of us who grew up in Terrace and still call it home.

Sincerely,

Nathaniel P. Wilkerson

  • The external link you've added does not add to or expand upon the subject of this article. By your own admission it was essentially added for promotional purposes or reasons not related to the article itself. It does not meet the criteria of WP:CITE. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Agent 86 (talkcontribs) 15:54, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
    • A note to User:24.22.234.64, whose edit note in the revision history ("Agent 86 did you grow up in Terrace, do you know what you are talking about? Leave our town alone!") implied only people from this town can edit the article, I'd remind you that wikipedia is not the private domain of a local few. It is irrelevant where you, I, or anyone else is from. Please read the applicable policies and edit accordingly. Oh, and yes, I do know what I'm talking about. Cheers. • I think what is missing is a Caledonia Senior Secondary School article. The precedent in Wikipedia is that virtually all schools are considered notable enough for their own article. A link to the Alumni website on the school article (rather than the main Terrace article) would probably be ok. Deet (talk) 03:00, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
        • Setting aside the ancient issue of the notability of schools, I would wholeheartedly agree that a link to an alumni website would be appropriate in such an article. Agent 86 (talk) 07:08, 11 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Service community"?? edit

I dropped by to add the next item below, but noticed this in the lead-line.....seems to me Terrace is more than a truckstop; wouldn't at least "resource town" be more accurate; it's also the metropolitan centre, such as it is, for the Skeena Valley, no (in rivalry with Rupert). Anyway, none of my business, it just seems an odd way to describe a city and major regional centre....Skookum1 (talk) 19:53, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Shames Mountain Ski Area edit

I just made this stub and will make the Shames Mountain redirect; quite a bit could be added, I'm mostly busy with starting BC ski area stubs, I know this succeeded the defunct Kitsumkalum Ski Area which will one day need an article, i.e. as a historical/defunct resort like a few others (Diamond Head, Silver Tip).Skookum1 (talk) 19:53, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Change in project status needs better explanation edit

I have set the project status back to "B". In my view, the explanation provided in the edit summary is vague and not helpful. It is not clear what is lacking in sources or references, how it needs clean-up, or what specifically needs expansion.Agent 86 (talk) 22:23, 21 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Okay, I apologize, going down to start was too much but it's not B. How about C?
As far why it is should not be "B", taken straight from the quality scale.
The article is suitably referenced, with inline citations where necessary. It has reliable sources, and any important or controversial material which is likely to be challenged is cited. The use of citation templates such as {{cite web}} is not required, but the use of Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). tags is encouraged.
The entire article has four citations. A cursory glance shows that the entire history section has one citation and the Economy and "Old Skeena Bridge" section has no citations. Thank you --CutOffTies (talk) 22:34, 21 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • I have no problem with the downgrade in and of itself, if explained, which you've now provided. Much appreciated.Agent 86 (talk) 22:46, 21 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Skeena Cellulose needs article edit

Redlink this because of its status as one of the largest publicly-owned corporate failures in BC history; quite a long story and lately in the news because of bribery charges of the local MP by a Chinese investor.Skookum1 (talk) 04:14, 6 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Fragment in opening paragraph edit

Does anyone know how this - lines 2 and 3 of the opening paragraph - should properly read?:

"The community population as of the 2011 census is 11,486. (Statistics Canada, 2001) to 11,320 and regional of 18,581 (Statistics Canada, 2006)."

Note that everything after the first parentheses is a fragment ... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mainemce (talkcontribs) 23:42, 25 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Train station merger proposal edit

No actual station building exists. The Railway section of the Terrace article provides a clearer understanding of the stop over the decades. The respective tables in that section are better suited to handling the geographical context where multiple former adjacent station combinations have existed than the less informative adjacent station template of the train station infobox.
