Terahertz, terahetz radiation
editIs this article an Advertisement? Why not leave Terahertz defined (as it was) and add an external link? Better yet, there is an article concerning the use of terahetz radiation which would be even better for the external link. Terahertz radiation
- I don't think it's an advert - but it's a poor choice of title for this subject matter (or conversely - a poor choice of information for this title!). Terahertz means 1,000,000,000,000 Hertz. It doesn't mean some kind of radiation - it's a measure of frequency and nothing else. This article appears to be about electromagnetic radiation in the Terahertz frequency range - which ought to be called "Terahertz Electromagnetic Radiation" or something. - Yeah, the original article (according to the history of the page) was for the unit of terahertz. It looks as if somebody tried to fix it and someone else posted this article again. There is actually an article for terahertz radiation as I pointed out in the link. As for the advert part, the way the Novatron device is introduced is not exactly encyclopedic. A separate article titled "Novatron" with a reference from the "radiation" article would probably work better. This is actually the first time I have commented on anything here but I do use wikipedia quite a bit. Syscore 11:24, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oh - I'm sorry - I hadn't noticed that the link was a Wikipedia article (you didn't use the [[...]] notation so I thought at a glance that it was an external web site!). OK - so then we can just delete everything from here and redirect it to Hertz. I'll get on to that later today. SteveBaker 17:00, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm - you're right - we already did this at least once before. Well, Kilohertz, Megahertz, Gigahertz and Petahertz all link to Hertz - it would be ludicrous for Terahertz not to point there too. We're on strong ground here. Let's just keep reverting if anyone tries to put back that old article. SteveBaker 19:43, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well I strongly disagree. A while ago I did clicked on a link to terahertz expecting to find an informative article on the subject. Instead, it redirected me to Hertz, an article only has a few sentences on terahertz. It took me several minutes to find the correct article, Terahertz radiation. "Terahertz" is the term used for this type of radiation, in addition to the frequency, I think this is because for a long time it was an unused part of the spectrum and no other name was adopted as its use became more prevalent (other areas of the EM spectrum have different names, light, x-rays, microwaves, radio waves, gamma rays, etc). The only name for this type of radiation is "terahertz" or the less common "T-Rays". Danski14(talk) 21:20, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- I concur with Danski14. A redirect to Hertz is 90% useless in delivering the information that the user is expecting. 99.225.158.180 (talk) 17:00, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
