One of the things that struck me when reading a facsimile reprint of Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque was that the final versions of the stories (which most modern readers are familiar with) were revised by Poe for their later reprints, even some of the minor humorous stories that one might think would not deserve the author's attention.
