editHi Every body ... i wanna software to enable me use SMIT command in linux ..or software installed in Linux to use CDE of AIX5L ... .
the running guy
editSomeone should add a bit about the most distinctive aspect of SMIT: the animated running guy who jumps up & down upon command success, or falls down on failure. We always nicknamed him Smitty, even though we weren't actually running smitty (the TTY version of SMIT).

webadmin
editI wish IBM had delivered SMIT as Open Source. Marvelous Admin tool. The best open source alternative is WebAdmin, which runs on a number of platforms. I think SMIT is a bit better organized; "show me the command" is particularly useful. http://sourceforge.net/sourceforge/webadmin/
