Influence on the 5th edit

The authors suggest Sibelius as an influence, but the thing that jumps out to the casual listener, from the opening motif, is Shostakovich's 7th symphony. I'm curious if someone who has studied this can add more context. I don't hear Sibelius (especially thr 5th) at all... so I'm curious. 84.48.49.76 (talk) 08:59, 23 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

When we reach the 3rd movement, it opens with a very Sibelius like soundscape, then almost seems to go through a medley of different influences. I'd swear to hearing a bit of Prokofiev 5th... could it be a statement about 5th symphonies(!!) Well, I defer to those who know more. 84.48.49.76 (talk) 09:12, 23 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
