History

edit

No history? German Wiki's Sylt entry includes a 1,700-word section on the island's history, outlining it's complicated relationship with Denmark since the 12th century. During WWII it was a closed military district, and after the war it became a way station of sorts from expellees from East Prussia.

Also, it would seem if we're going to to present a DYK item (April 26) on the church of St. Severin with a link to Sylt, the Sylt article should include a photo of this 12th century edifice.

This article is about Sylt-Ost, the history of the island can be found in the article Sylt. --Cyfal (talk) 11:51, 21 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Former municipality - appropriate repository for info on the villages?

edit

Since this is not an actual active municipality any more, I think it might be worthwhile to consider breaking out one or more of the villages and give them an article of their own - especially Keitum. A lot of places have their own WP article that are not notable because they are an independent municipality but because they have a notable history and/or interesting current features. Alternatively, we could move the villages to the page for Gemeinde Sylt, possibly along with Hörnum.Drow69 (talk) 16:24, 8 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Agree - creating articles of their own would be a good idea. Especially because in Sylt (municipality)#Subdivision the other villages already have their own articles. --Cyfal (talk) 22:47, 13 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Ok. Started with Keitum. Others to follow & at the end we can convert the section on the subdivisions to a simple link list.Drow69 (talk) 15:28, 18 May 2015 (UTC) Done. Moved them all to individual articles.Drow69 (talk) 16:03, 21 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
