Minor???

edit

I have to admit I find the reason for deletion is rather amusing - Minor part of a minor school of philosophy created by one person.

Allow me to explain.

First, Supermind, rather than a minor part, is the central element of Sri Aurobindo's philosophy, which is evident to anyone who reads any of his books, or even who just reads second or third-hand sources. But don't belivve me, look him up at your local library.

Second, Sri Aurobindo is one of the major figures in the Indian Spiritual revival, beginning with the Bengali Rennaisance of the 19th century. He is mentioned alongside Ramakrishna, Vivekananda, Tagore, Radhakrishnan, and others. So he is a major figure in Indian thought today, and has been influential in the West (although not yet to same degree), often compared with Teilhard de Chardin. So you cannot call this a "minor school of philosophy".

"Created by one person". This is incorrect; Integral Yoga was a joint creation of Sri Aurobindo and his co-worker The Mother.

I notice there are two references to Omega Point - one for Teilhard's original version, another to Frank Tipler's transhumanist version. Why then the discrimination agains this page?

Google book search gives 505 hits for "Aurobindo Supermind", 85 on Google scholar. "Aurobindo Teilhard" gives 158 hits on google scholar, 551 on book search. For "Aurobindo" alone, 3375 hits on book search, 3,050 on Google scholar.

Regarding the relevence of the parallel between Teilhard's Omega Point, and Sri Aurobindo's Supermind, the search string Aurobindo Teilhard Omega Point Supermind" gives 23 hits on Google Book Search

Nevertheless I'll add a few third-party references M Alan Kazlev 21:53, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Help on Other Uses

edit

I admit this is not my area of expertise. I was trying to correct the "Supermind" disambiguation page. There are only two uses, and this page seems to be the right one for the majority of cases. I put an Otheruses tag at the top of Supermind (board game). Could someone with more familiarity with the subject ensure that the tag on the board game page has an accurate description?
