The coat of arms depicted is that of Brock Township. Given that Sunderland isn't a municipal entity (corporation), should this be here? Blotto adrift 16:36, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • I struggled with this myself, and can go either way on it. Does the town have a flag, or logo, or anything? -- Mike Helms 18:28, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
This is the only one I know of...and the only one that seems to be readily available on their site. Makes sense, since only the larger munis seem to have flags, but many seem to have a coat of arms. I'll try to copy it over to the Brock site and add some info. Blotto adrift 22:07, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sunderland does not have a flag, or a logo that I am aware of, other then the Canadian Flag. Yes, the Brock coat of arms should be on this page, as Sunderland is part of Brock Township.Leamarie411x2 16:50, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Brock twp coa.gif edit

Image:Brock twp coa.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Mars Corners? edit

So I lived in Brock Township for almost a decade and spent a good bit of that time researching local history, and I never once came across a reference to Sunderland being named "Mars Corners". I know that the original post office (on the 7th and Highway 12) was known as "Brock", and that the town was also known as "Jones Corners" before being named "Sunderland" when the Toronto Nipissing railway came through. Can someone offer a reference to the "Mars Corners"? Mike Helms (talk) 15:27, 29 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Sunderland's name is thought to come..."

By who?? Surely a citation is needed here. You can think the name came from anywhere, but without supporting evidence it's just a thought.

Please no references to the Sunderland Historical Society's webpage: that would just be going around in circles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.237.50.151 (talk) 13:07, 25 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
