Talk:Studio Zone

Thirty Mile Zone is a term mainly created by TMZ to promote their brand. Studio Zone is the actual correct term used throughout the entertainment industry since the 60's. Anyone who actually works in the film/tv industry knows this. If you call SAG, the DGA and any line producer and ask them which term is used, they will say "studio zone". It is called "studio zone" in the union contracts. No one in Los Angeles calls it the thirty mile zone. If you walked on a set and used that term, they'd know you just got "off the bus" from Podunk, USA.

This Thirty Mile Zone page seems to be part of a TMZ PR campaign. Each time an accurate Studio Zone page is created on Wikipedia, someone goes and deletes it. Could it be TMZ? Perhaps. Who else would care?

For clarification, there is no legally defined term "Thirty Mile Zone" in any of the union agreements, but there is a legally defined term "Studio Zone". No one in Hollywood utters the phrase "thirty mile zone" except industry outsiders who read gossip on TMZ.

Any redirection of this page to Thirty Mile Zone is underhanded. It is not a recognized term and merely a new brand name created by AOL/Time Warner and should accurately be noted as such. —Preceding unsigned comment added by planetprods (talk) 04:56, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Thirty Mile Zone page has more edit history than Studio Zone, so it is the page that should stay. Planetprods, it sounds like you have a strong opinion as to which is the more correct term. Please add Thirty Mile Zone to Wikipedia:Requested moves so that an admin can rename it, preserving its edit history. Nicksh 05:18, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nicksh, with all due respect, where do you live and what industry do you work in? You cannot cite any entertainment industry contract that uses the term "thirty mile zone". It simply does not exist despite the "edit page history" or hits here on Wikipedia which are likely generated by TMZ paid PR staff. Film/TV industry professionals only use Studio Zone and real world accuracy and usage should be your main concern, not "hit" to the TMZ sponsored page. Wikipedia is about accurate information about the world, not advertising. The term thirty mile zone is an advertisement, it is not a real-world entertainment industry term. If you doubt this, please phone SAG, the DGA, the AMPTP (if you even know what that is... it's the Alliance of Motion Picture Television Producers). Phone them before deleting the more accurate page. Again, Wikipedia should be about ACCURATE information, not misinformation, and "thirty mile zone" is indeed misinformation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Planetprods (talkcontribs) 05:28, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
