Talk:Storm Bay (British Columbia)

Structure edit

To me this article (current revision) seems far too image-heavy and not well-referenced:

  • There are currently 19 images in total, many of which highlight specific plants or animals of the area, including three on hand.milling. For comparison, the Bay of Fundy article has more than twice the total length but significantly fewer images.
  • There are significant whitespace problems, especially in the lead section. I assume that's why the table of contents was suppressed, but that's no solution.
  • Much of the article is lists of flora and fauna, without a source. A summary of the area's ecology, based on secondary sources, would be far preferable to a list of every living thing that can be spotted in the area.
  • The references often are entire books without page numbers. That's rather unwieldy and makes locating the relevant parts much more difficult than necessary.
  • I rather strongly suspect that parts of paragraphs followed by a source, for example the beginning of the "Early twentieth century" section, are not based on that source and thus unreferenced. It would help to clarify which parts of the article actually are based on the given sources and which aren't.

I may try to fix some of those issues over the next few days; help would be appreciated. Huon (talk) 21:37, 20 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank-you Huon. I've been editing wikipedia for some time, but they were all simple edits. This is the first article I've created; I've learned *a lot* about wikipedia over the past few days. It's a steep learning curve, but there is a wealth of information about all aspects of wikipedia, as you know. Geordie.birch (talk) 21:50, 20 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

I've added page numbers for the Barrow. I will head to the Vancouver Public Library this week to get page numbers for the Scott and the Keller.Geordie.birch (talk) 01:07, 22 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
