Sales figures edit

I have removed the sales figures columns for the albums listed as the source given is now over a decade old. Furthermore, some of the information transcribed from the sales figures source has been inappropriately added to the tables which gives a false impression to the reader. The source is a Billboard magazine Q&A article from February 2011 which lists Nicks' sales history in the US up to that point. It includes over-the-counter sales figures from after the introduction of Soundscan in 1991 as there was no accurate way of obtaining sales figures from before then (do not confuse sales with shipments, which are quantified by the RIAA as Gold and Platinum awards). The sales figures for Nicks' four 1980s pre-Soundscan albums were listed, but these will only be sales after Soundscan was introduced in 1991 (i.e. "The Other Side of the Mirror" (79,000), "Rock a Little" (99,000), "The Wild Heart" (200,000), "Bella Donna" (855,000). It isn't necessary to add sales figures at all when certifications are available to show an album's commercial performance, but it is disingenuous and unencyclopedic to include sales figures only from a decade after an album was released. Obviously, Bella Donna has sold far more than 855,000 copies since it was released in 1981. It had received its fourth platinum disc from the RIAA in January 1990, for shipments in the US of over 4 million copies during the 1980s alone. The sales number of 855,000 copies is only between 1991 and 2011, but Bella Donna is a 40 year old album and sold the bulk of its total in the 1980s, so including this figure in the table is pointless and misleading. 78.145.152.203 (talk) 04:32, 9 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@78.145.152.203: You made your point for older releases but you did not have to delete entirely everything, later releases are somewhat fitting. I removed the older albums that sales were surpassed but kept the newer ones. Also at compilations some sales did surpass the certification. Dhoffryn (talk) 07:37, 9 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Vocals in 'Gold' by John Stewart edit

Stevie's guest appearance on two John Stewart songs, 'Midnight Wind' and 'Lost Her in the Sun' are listed, but not the much bigger hit single 'Gold', which reached #5 on the Hot 100 in 1979. I assume this is an accidental omission? AJC3fromS2K (talk) 14:28, 2 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
