GA Reassessment

As part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles' Project quality task force, all old good articles are being re-reviewed to ensure that they meet current good article criteria (as detailed at WP:WIAFA. In reviewing this article, I have found that it doesn't meet criteria for the following reasons:

  • The lead does not adequately summarize the entire article (WP:LEAD).
  • There are many sections that are inadequately referenced, or unreferenced entirely. Examples:
    • The entire "Premise" section (which also seems to have some original research issues as well);
    • Most of "Game Releases" subsection;
    • Lines here and there throughout the description of the television releases (and there's a {{cn}} tag in there too.)
  • Excessive use of non-free content (WP:NFCC). File:SGUcast.jpg, File:Sga poster 1.JPG, File:StargateInfinity 2008-DVD-cover.jpg, and File:Sg1-poster.jpg, besides generally being too high a resolution anyhow, do not add significantly to the article (especially as there are subpages for all these items.)
  • There are lots of one-to-two-line paragraphs that aren't real paragraphs. These either need to be deleted, merged (or judging by content) should be expanded.
  • The "Reception" section touches on very little about the cultural impact and critical reception of the series, instead giving out a lot of numbers without much context. I would strongly recommend some of the subarticles be folded into the main article to bolster it.
  • There's next to no info about development; it needs to be boosted a bit for each of the shows. In general, there's just a lack of information. I suggest you look at FA-class articles on similar subjects (ex. House (TV series) to see what's expected structurally.

Given the number of issues and concerns above, I am boldly delisting this article. Remember that you can renominate an article at WP:GAN at any time. Direct any comments or queries to my talk page (I don't watchlist these old reviews and won't see any changes.) Thanks, Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 20:35, 12 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
