I recently took a workshop where St Louis shag was taught, and the basic was not the one in the video source (which received criticism in it's comment sections for being another dance) the one I was taught was more like: 1-2 (triple step) 3 (kick forward) 4 (brush back) 5 (step) 6-7 (heel-toe) 8 (step).
