Sportswear is such an important part of American fashion history that I'm surprised it isn't already covered here. I'll try and expand on the stub but help always welcome! Mabalu (talk) 17:09, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
- Expanded and revised. There should really be something about the development of sportswear outside America, i.e., Michele Rosier and Missoni, but my sources aren't currently as forthcoming on this as they were for American sportswear. Still, hopefully this is good enough for now. Mabalu (talk) 04:36, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- I missed that you had created this article. Long overdue, and well done, team! - PKM (talk) 19:53, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
Merger discussion
editI would like to propose a merger and then redirect of American Look (fashion movement) to this article - I have indeed already carried out the merging, and although I am obviously biased (as the article creator of this one), it strikes me that this article has always given a far more comprehensive overview of the same topics discussed in the American Look article. They do essentially seem to be about the same subject. It seems that most of the editors of the American Look page have not been active for a while. Due to my conflict of interest/clear investment in this article, I would appreciate third party thoughts before going ahead and boldly merging/redirecting. Mabalu (talk) 00:09, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
- A more comprehensive merge has been carried out, including references and information. Not that anyone will probably notice over on the other page, as it has not been edited or updated since I proposed the original merge, but I will be redirecting that to this page unless anyone wishes to raise an objection or argue that they deserve two separate pages. - @Mabalu: Great work on the Sportswear (fashion) article; it reads well. Noting that most of the merge was completed with this edit, and given no objections, I've added the redirect. Merger complete. Klbrain (talk) 17:02, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
Proposed split
editOppose. As the article creator, I do not support this suggestion. The article makes it transparently clear that the concept of fashion sportswear is something more complicated than simple "casual wear" and it also clarifies (via the hatnote) that this is different to sportswear (activewear). In addition, there are multiple reliable, academic sources and exhibition catalogues confirming this in the citations. Mabalu (talk) 00:21, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
Proposed merge
editI'd like to merge Fitness fashion with this. GymBroWhales (talk) 21:47, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose, as these articles have distinct scope and are moderately well-developed. Fitness fashion focusses on the psychology of modern body image in a way that would seems out of place on Sportswear (fashion), which has a longer and broader scope. Klbrain (talk) 10:09, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
