Spike Island (Cheshire)Spike Island, Cheshire – The guideline WP:UKPLACE prefers comma-separated disambiguation over parenthetical disambiguation. This is consistent with WP:NCDAB. Dinglebat500 (talk page) (talk) 17:41, 13 June 2017 (UTC) --Relisting.Guanaco 04:46, 22 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Relisting. There is disagreement here, and this could use input from more editors. —Guanaco 04:46, 22 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

– Per WP:COMMADIS we usually use brackets for "it is" a such as Mercury (planet) being a planet and commas for its in such as Bray, Berkshire being in Berkshire. Apart from organizations (which often aren't physical geographical entities) commas are standard in the UK per WP:UKPLACE which specifically states this for Scotland (such as Jura, Scotland) but doesn't specifically for England but its reasonable to assume its the case here to since there's no reason to treat landforms differently to settlements and buildings. Deadman's Island (Kent) should be moved to Deadmans Island (or Deadmans Island, Kent) since that's what its called on the OS but since there are others it might make sense to still disambiguate it. Sheep Island (England) should be disambigauted by county not country per WP:UKPLACE. See Talk:Isle of Lewis#Requested move 18 July 2018, Talk:Handa, Scotland#Requested move 16 September 2018 and Talk:Noss#Requested move 23 December 2018 where it was argued comma disambiguation should be used even when the OS uses a different name and that different name was available. Some of these were moved without discussion in 2015, see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Scotland/Archive 12#More cleanup required[1]. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:28, 10 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
