Needs cautions added on how to avoid data corruption edit

Why is this referenced in the article without proper warnings. Taking backups of the live system using the method described in the link below can lead to corruption of data.

Needs lead-in to establish context and background for non-techs edit

Article assumes admin-level familiarity with context that many readers lack. Needs to point to state basic background information about general aims and purposes served before getting to the particular mechanics of how sparsebundle serves them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.190.133.143 (talk) 21:34, 25 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Pruned article, limitations unclear edit

I pruned large parts of the article as they seemingly did not add significantly to the article.

Also I was unable to reproduce limitation #1 on OS X 10.7, and I'm not sure what is meant by the second limitation.2pem (talk) 14:56, 21 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Clarification: On OS X 10.7 it is possible to generate a disk image with capacity > physical volume size, but the space available reported is max(disk image free space, physical disk free space). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2pem (talkcontribs) 09:35, 25 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Mac-centric edit

The term "sparse image" is well known in other fields of IT as well, especially in all fields dealing with virtualization. 94.79.138.166 (talk) 14:19, 12 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
