on definition

I have updated the definition about Southwest Research Institute to reflect our profile as posted on our web site at http://www.swri.org . The definition is legitimate and released by us under the Gnu Free Documentation License. [User: SwRIWebManager]

I don't think that is necessary a good thing. To me Wikipedia should be more and different from company's self-generated statements. Though, the current description seems okay, and I don't find anything very promotional in it. Samoojas (talk) 16:36, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

It is the only research institute without direct university support or association.

I'm not sure, and I work here! :-) I'll look into it, but I suspect it should be something like "It is the only major research institute in the U.S. without direct university support or association". zowie 16:46, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

I am not sure who added this statement, but we are a not-for-profit research and development organization. We are independent and not tied to a university; however, I believe there are a few other R&D organizations in the U.S. who are also not directly associated with an university. [User: SwRIWebManager]
