School Song edit

I put up a section on the school song, but it was removed; I see no reason why it is necessary to remove this useful information: it is a long tradition of the school, and almost impossible to locate anywhere else on the internet. It is only mentioned in passing in the rest of the article, and surely deserves more. Haltri (talk) 16:41, 12 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup edit

I have attempted to clean up the mess into which this page had descended. Many of the so-called "facts" were unworthy of a place on Wikipedia. The entire section on courses available at the school was not only distracting to the main point of the page, but also would appear to have been a clear breach of copyright. Any future editing by others, particularly those with links to the school, should comply with the Wikipedia guidelines. Bencherlite 19:27, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Factual Vs Fictional edit

I can confirm that the majority of 'Trivial' facts on this article are correct. There are of course a few minor comments that are both childish and not acceptable under the Guidelines laid out by Wikipedia and shall be deleted. Please do not let the iron-fist ruling of some editors effect your decision to add any interesting anecdotes or trivia facts as long as they are 100% truthful. As a member of the teaching staff at SHSB i am in a position to know which facts are correct and acceptable for broadcast. Thank you. 20:36 12/02/07 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by SouthendTeachers (talkcontribs) 20:36, 12 February 2007 (UTC).Reply

Please see the article on original research for why these trivia should not be included here unless they can be independently confirmed through citation of verifiable primary sources. --DachannienTalkContrib 20:42, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
This page was re-edited to meet your demands laid out in the guidelines of correct trivial facts and therefore you deleted a lot of what you claimed to be acceptable, read it next time —Preceding unsigned comment added by Steven Knowledge (talkcontribs) 20:47, 12 February 2007
Do you have any citations for any of the trivia you insist on adding to the article? --DachannienTalkContrib 20:57, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Blanking talk pages edit

Please don't blank this talk page. It is a necessary part of discussion on what the underlying article should contain, and it is important as a record of any past discussions that have taken place. --DachannienTalkContrib 20:57, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

why does anyone doubt the truth of anything written there? It's obviously written by a pupil, and in the end, pupils constitue the main function of the school!

Even if some of the "trivia" comments are true, they do not belong on Wikipedia, for reasons that have already been explained. Wikipedia articles are not the place for pupils' "in-jokes" either. If vandalistic changes continue being made to this article, then those responsible are likely to be blocked by administrators. Bencherlite 10:50, 13 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wiki policy edit

I don't see why information on the school's attitude towards Wikipedia should be deleted - it is as much accurate and interesting information as anything else. Puretide 13:09, 14 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Provide a verifiable reference for it then. --DachannienTalkContrib 20:27, 14 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ask a pupil! Puretide 15:39, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
That would constitute original research. An independent verifiable source is required. --DachannienTalkContrib 16:10, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Most of the info on this page is not verified - as a member of the school I think I can comment on it.Puretide 18:52, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Good call. I've therefore removed a sizable chunk of fully uncited information (which, I might add, was of questionable import). By the way, it doesn't matter if you're a student, a teacher, the headmaster, or just some random guy. Wikipedia does not accept original research, including claims that "I was there yesterday and I saw it myself". You have to provide a source that other people can reference and therefore independently verify the statements that you add to an article. --DachannienTalkContrib 20:36, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Remember, you'll need to provide a source in order to keep that material. Otherwise, it counts as original research, which isn't permitted on Wikipedia. Please take the time to read and understand the policies before making further edits to this article. --DachannienTalkContrib 21:03, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please may I point out that some of the information is highly relevent such as modifications of the headmaster recently becoming a Dr. as opposed to a Mr. which people seem to want to delete?

Please may i also note that it is also of importance to list the previous headmaster seeing that they ran the school for 19 years and has only just retired - it is useful information about the school. Name prefixes and suffixes are also not a problem.

None of this violates a rule and is backed up by recognised certificates and plaques within the school itself! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.108.174.92 (talk) 20:33, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
