Talk:Solo (Gordon Lightfoot album)

Solo?

edit

The article says that this is Lightfoot’s only solo record, and this would appear to be true, but that’s not the way the term “solo” is typically used—or, rather, misused—by pop enthusiasts. Typically the term is (mis)used to refer to records released under the name of the singer rather than the group. Pretty much all of Lightfoot’s records were released as “Gordon Lightfoot” records, though, so in this (incorrect) sense all of his records are solo records. Paul McCartney released two real solo records (although he overdubbed extensively on both) and none of the other Beatles released any solo records, although they certainly released many records under their individual names.
