Notability edit

Dan Gibson may be notable; is this really "a new form of music" etc? Is it really worth a Wiki article?Skookum1 (talk) 00:59, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • What's not to be notable about it? If we let individual music albums, such as say Songs from the Big Chair or Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band have articles, why not an entire series? Especially a series that has won this many awards? (Also, notability sucks and should be destroyed) Thanos6 (talk) 01:32, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Ew, I am certainly not a fan of these albums but I suspect they are well-known and have article potential. The real difficulty, however, may be in Reliable sources. Can any secondary coverage of the series be found to use as a source for this article? I was initially rather opposed to the notability guidelines myself, Thanos6, as it appears to be a sneaky back way of getting a WP:Fame and importance rule and also feel that Core content policies are sufficient but I have seen instances where the notability criteria are helpful in judging an article's ability to meet V, NPOV, and NOR and am more open to it now. • Such as...? Shouldn't only verafibility standards be used to judge verafibility? And so on? And again, the question remains, what makes, say, one album more notable than an entire series of them? Thanos6 (talk) 02:22, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
      • No a NPOV is necessary as well. If there is insufficient secondary coverage, then POV is very likely. DoubleBlue (Talk) 02:29, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
      • I still completely, totally disagree, but at anyrate...here's proof that Solitudes have gone both gold and platinum, which should be enough to prove notability. http://www.cria.ca/gold/0205_g.php This article really just needs one honkin' big rewrite to make it more about the albums, the biographical information should be moved to the Dan Gibson page.
  • the external link referred, www.solitudes.com, as being the official site does not seems working anymore (I remember I went there 1 year ago though). Even Google seems not indexing it. Has this been taken down? No other official source for the author Dan Gibson or the series Solitudes?Fabiozib (talk) 21:50, 7 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

I just noted that it is still present in Web.archive.org, (https://web.archive.org/web/20111228030907/http://www.solitudes.com/Shopping/EditorialDisplay.aspx?contentID=relaxation&brandID=SOLITUDES) but the main site is offline apparently. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fabiozib (talkcontribs) 21:14, 23 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
