This is hilarious

"Television advertisements for the product featured a jingle offering the boast that they were "More fun than a pillowfight". The comparison was made based upon the nature of the product: inflatable pads worn on both hands and used as oversized boxing gloves. No documentation was ever offered outlining any data on the relative entertainment levels of Sock'em Boppers and of pillowfights, and the claim made in the advertising material has never been considered particularly valid from any empirical point of view."

And then the citation from the Minneapolis Star Tribune "Sock'em Boppers' controversial new claim draws skepticism." I would love to read that newspaper article.

FYI- I searched through the Star Tribune's archives. No such article exists. But I really hope they keep this page just how it is. It really is genius. It could be the next "three wolf moon."

Is "Promotional Plans" just someone's idea for a really good sock'em boppers commercial? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.94.87.81 (talk) 03:34, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

What is the tone notice for? This is quite possibly the best wikipedia article I've ever read.98.77.223.83 (talk) 00:10, 27 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wow this article sucks. It needs to be rewritten. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.130.66.197 (talk) 20:07, 7 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

This article is worthless -- as far as I can tell it has nothing worthwhile in it at all. It's obviously facetiously written. Bloosheep (talk) 01:51, 10 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ok, but what ARE they?

The Nintendo Power Article Sourced in This Article Does Not Exist

edit

The Nintendo Power "Eyes Set On Sock'em Boppers" article referenced for the entire Nintendo connection in the article does not exist--it is not in the April 3rd, 1997 issue of Nintendo Power nor was it in the issue labelled April 1997. The only mention on the entire web of Nintendo ever having anything to do with these toys is this Wikipedia article, which only sources the Nintendo Power article that does not exist. 2601:5CC:8300:3870:85EF:B29A:B320:C7E1 (talk) 17:58, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
