The overly long sentence dealing with the development of character Lou Grant from Mary Tyler Moore is off topic for this article, as it has nothing to do with the Slattery's People series. One might just as well add another equally long and irrelevant sentence on the history of Archie Bunker. The series is more notable for the fact that it moved Richard Crenna from being known primarily as a comedy actor into dramatic and romantic roles.
