editThis is an important musical term in the discussion of mensural notation. German terminology is standard in the the discussion of notation of the ars nova. Wikipedia articles are generally deficient in discussing this very particular system of music notation (found in only four sources: Wolfenbeuttel 1 and 2, Florence, and Seville). It is unsurprising the term would not be linked to, given this paucity.
The actual item described is a very clear distinct item. This term is defined in the New Grove dictionary of Music and Musicians, Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart, and also the New Harvard Dictonary of Music and Encyclopedia Britannica. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TotalFailure (talk • contribs) 08:04, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
