Talk:Side judge

Interesting feature edit

Since side judges are not members of the bar, they can cut a lot of corners. For example, in a civil trial, they can talk to both sides "urging" a settlement during recess! The verbal twisting of arms can be incredible. They do not pull punches! Their goal is to step up the pace to make the court more efficient. They hate dwaddling and delays! The judge, a member of the bar, couldn't do this and wouldn't if he could. He might have to work with these people someday. And the worse the court system is the more judges and attorneys there are! Articles needed edit

We need higher level articles on Vermont country government and Vermont town government that describe unique positions. something in between the Vermont article and this. Student7 (talk) 15:28, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

List of incumbents edit

While we sometimes list past mayors under a "hide" template, generally we don't use an article on a topic to list individual office holders which have nothing to do with the article itself. See, for example, Wikipedia:Listcruft#Meaning. List has limited interest for the general reader. List is unencyclopedic.

I tried to find a "half-way" position by keeping the cruft but hiding it. People who are actually interested can unhide the list. Student7 (talk) 17:27, 22 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

List also jams the toc with cruft, only indirectly related to the topic, which is quite unique in itself. The toc was re-expanded to overwhelm the encyclopedic material. This is undesirable. Student7 (talk) 17:31, 22 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

I recreated the hideable list, and I moved the photos so that the "show" button is visible on the right side of the page. It was hidden by the Hyde Park court house photo.

I also put in a hideable list for the prominent former side judges.
