Opening Comments edit

Sorry for the Delay, Work got in the way. Anyway, The article right now seems to be a great wikipedia addition. It has tons of information and gives me knowledge on other subjects that help contribute to my knowledge on this River. However, there is some grammar issues and awkward sentences that I will address. I will start the review now. AmericanAir88 (talk) 00:45, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

No worries AmericanAir88. I've gone through and addressed the issues you've raised. There are a few I'd like a second opinion on? Thank you! Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 01:35, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Issues edit

@Callanecc:

  • There are a ton of Red-Links in the article. Can you either remove, find/create redirects, or find a page for them? AmericanAir88 (talk) 00:49, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
  Done. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 01:35, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • "It changes name to Chikuma River (千曲川 Chikuma-gawa) as it flows into the Nagano Prefecture."
This sentence needs better pronouns AmericanAir88 (talk) 00:49, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • "Originally the Shinano River would have drained straight into an estuary-like Fukushima lagoon[5]:41 before making its way into the Sea of Japan after flowing down from the Japanese Alps. Over centuries of sediments being brought downstream, a marshy plain formed in the lagoon into what is currently the Echigo Plain."
The opening sentence of the history section needs a better start AmericanAir88 (talk) 00:51, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
  Question: Done, I think. What do you think of the current sentence as a bit of a short introduction to its history? Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 01:35, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
  Done Perfect! Excellent Work! AmericanAir88 (talk) 01:45, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • "In any case, the fact that one of the main inland roads on Honshu followed the Shinano valley inland through Nagano and onto the Tosan highway in the Japanese Alps indicates that the river played a vital role in local trade. The Chikuma valley provided a further link across the island of Honshu providing a link from eastern Honshu to the Tokai highway on the western side of the island."
Sentences need fixing, Especially the second one. AmericanAir88 (talk) 00:54, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
  Probably done. What do you think? Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 01:35, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
  Done Excellent Job! AmericanAir88 (talk) 01:47, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • "From this confluence it turns north and is crossed by Koshiji Bridge and the Shinetsu Main Line before emerging onto Echigo Plains of the Niigata Prefecture at Sanjō where it has a very small gradient (an average of 1 in 4000) and so becomes deltaic and swampy."
Sentence needs cleanup AmericanAir88 (talk) 00:57, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
