Konkani Wikipedia edit

Dear Konknni friends,

Konkani Wikipedia has been started and been in test stage since August 2006.

Kindly contribute towards the Konkani wikipedia. We intend to make it a multiscript

Wikipeida. At least tri-script with Roman ,Devanangiri and Kannada scripts since these are the most popular ones.

We would like to get more articles/templates in place. We also need volunteers to do the thankless and boring job of transliterating it to different scripts .

As of now only two members are making active contributions. The more the merrier. Your contribution is vital to its success.

prominent Shenoys edit

A couple of new editors (probably the same person) have disputed my removal of some names from the list of prominent Shenoys. Please note that the list of Prominent people is meant only as an indicative list and not as an all-encompassing list. It is only meant to give a lead-on to inquisitive readers and one of the prime criteria is that they should have a Wikipedia article. While this is not a rule, it is a general practice. Another thing to keep in mind that the list is of "prominent Shenoys" not "prominent among Shenoys". So the criteria of WP:NOTABILITY should be applied as a decider. It is not uncommon for new readers to add some of their relatives whom they consider "famous" or even themselves. That doesn't work. They have to be notable in a global sense. So while becoming a professor at a famous institute is an important achievement it is really no big deal in a global sense, not unless they have achieved something important as a professor; not just becoming a professor. Do you see the names of that professors' associates in their respective community articles; I think not. Only Indian articles seem to be plagued with this problem. And also please do not include people on such ridiculous criterion as "most-emailed article". Ironically that person seems to be more deserving of inclusion than the head of the Kashi matha[1]? --Deepak D'Souza (talk) 00:54, 17 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

i do not think that the surname SHENOY is part of the rajapur saraswat brahmin community. any body who could check and update in this regard would help the information pool. ARUN SHENOY — Preceding unsigned comment added by 14.96.134.77 (talk) 11:33, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
