Hi. New article here. The main musical notation article is growing long and has a strong emphasis on Western staff notation and I think this article can expand into a useful one in its own way. Some ideas for expansion:

  • images
  • different schools of notation
  • honkyoku versus folk/ensemble/modern
  • imporant to keep in mind the copyrighted nature of most notation
  • possibly a comparison of a phrase of shakuhachi notation and the staff notated near-equivalent
  • wikilinks to existing relevant shakuhachi articles (e.g. meri/kari, etc.)
  • history of temple-based pieces, the verbal traditions, etc. leading up to written notation (e.g. Kinko)

Some examples here would be of great help. Also sound examples to go with the various kinds of written notation Gingermint (talk) 07:15, 28 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
