Original song?

Back in 1997 (possibly 1998) when I was an expat living in the Far East, the local radio stations were playing something *very* similar to "Salala Lala", insofar as the main lyrics and rythm. Yet the article (and the Vengaboys one too) says it was released in 2000.

I remember some people talking about them stealing the song off some Filipino group or something, can anyone check this out? W3bbo 01:09, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

I've listened to a version by a 1970s danish group called "walkers". there is also a version of this song by the wynners (Hong kong) as stated in the articles. so which group sings it originally, walkers or wynners?

It was originally created by the Dannish Group "Walkers". Billy Joel "wrote" (or plagiarized) from it for his 1978 song "My Life" (never gave credit to "walkers", as if it was completely written by himself). Dreamhouse did their cover version in 1997/98 BEFORE Vengaboys did their version. The Dreamhouse version was MASSIVELY popular in 1997 in the Philippines. This article should have put more emphasis on the Dreamhouse version rather than the Vengaboys. Lets see after Vengaboys did this one. Multi-awarded singer Philipp Kirkorov covered for live and never included to the album, I mention Zillertaler version on eBay CD. I note that i've listened to Vhong Navarro's dance evolution with this Dreamhouse version, Multi-titled girl group Sexbomb Girls rendered the dance at SiS from 2007 after returning to EB as an group. So i've been to listen the hits from Walkers to Vengaboys and I am very capable to compare about the popularity in the Phils. I noticed that about Shalala Lala as an background music for Lito Reyes in Talentadong Pinoy. Noone is questioning anyone's capability. I was just saying that the Dreamhouse version in 1997 was hugely popular in the Philippines at that time, which was 3 years before the Vengaboys version. And I believe that this page should have mentioned the cover versions in chronological order. With a little more emphasis on the Dreamhouse version and less on the Vengaboys version--ES2600:1700:B9C0:DCA0:5186:A8D:F855:2397 (talk) 02:05, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
