Talk:Semiosis

I propose to include this page in a review of the presentation of semeiotics in Wikipedia.

Insects are animals edit

What's with the redundant phrase "insects and animals" throughout this article? Is this a semiotics thing? Let the rest of us in on the joke! :D Tzf (talk) 23:29, 17 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Triadic edit

Does saying "Semiosis is triadic" and linking "triadic" to a page called "Reciprocal determinism" (which makes as little sense as this page) help anyone?

If we're trying to say that signification is a ternary relation between (i) the entity making a sign, (ii) the entity understanding the sign, and (iii) the entity signified by the sign, then we can say that, in so many words. With a citation!

Or we can say something else, explicitly, and again, with a citation.

But this (the entire contents of the section "Triadic reciprocal causation" of the Reciprocal determinism article):

Triadic reciprocal causation is a term introduced by Albert Bandura[8] to refer to the mutual influence between three sets of factors:
personal factors (e.g., cognitive, affective and biological events),
       the environment,
       behavior

is not good enough. It's uninformative, it's boring and it doesn't mention semiosis at all. I'd like to delete the sentence "Semiosis is triadic and cyclic." Buster79 (talk) 22:25, 2 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
