This article makes semiconductor photodetectors sound much less significant than they actually are (gamma rays and x rays?). They are extremely important for fiber optical communications. My opinion is that photodetector should be expanded upon, and some of the information from this article should be in photodetector. --Rmalloy 02:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Alternative proposal: Rename this article to Semiconductor particle detector, and merge the content about photodetectors into the Photodiode article. This would seem to leave no place to talk about a semiconductor photodetector with no diode structure -- if there is such a thing, it could be covered in the main Photodetector article. -- The Photon 03:46, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
On second thought, I don't what I was talking about. I think this article seems fine. --Rmalloy 03:57, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm a passing nuclear engineer. The best source for the information in this section (which is ftr more or less accurate) would be Knoll's book on detectors. I currently am not in a position to add these references. But if someone is feeling up to it, then that's where you can find it. 24.236.105.218 (talk) 18:17, 11 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
