I propose combining the "First Cankam period" and "Second Cankam period" articles into a comprehensive article on "Cankam periods".
They are both short and without much detail. In articles on Tamil culture, there also is reference to a "Middle Cankam period" and "Third Cankam period", but there are no articles on these periods.
Until there is a great deal more material on this subject, I see no justification for dividing it into multiple articles.
