In "Contributors" for issue #16/17, when you click on the name "William Sherman" it takes you to the page for General William T. Sherman. Since I am the contributor to that issue named "William Sherman" (and also to #18 under the name "Bill Sherman"), I can assure you that General Sherman did not contribute to Second Aeon. That is not to say he would not have liked the enterprise.
