Wouldn't the adjective form rather be "schmutzich"? 惑乱 Wakuran (talk) 01:48, 28 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

In German it is 'schmutzig'. 'schmutzich' is slang. The 'schmutzic' version might come from translating it back from its Yiddish Hebrew-alphabet spelling into latin alphabet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.73.143.86 (talk) 20:24, 3 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

'schmutzich' isn't slang, just wrong spelling. Most Germans pronounce '-ig' like '-ich' (I mean, [-ɪç] instead of [-ɪɡ] or [-ɪk]; not [-ɪtʃ].) -- 193.128.87.36 (talk) 11:48, 10 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yiddish origin

edit

I'd say, German has it from Yiddish, not the other way round. Cf. the German version of this article. -- 193.128.87.36 (talk) 11:48, 10 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
