Australia. I am another person who has lived with this condition since childhood I am now 49 years old I controlled the pain by getting weekly injections of steroids and doing weights to build up the skeletal muscles running down my spine that was 10 years ago I am still doing weights at 49 but remember there are still movements with weights that you should avoid. weight machines are best not free weights, machines tend to hold you in possition with less chance of injury. and I still have pain but at least it is not as bad and I can still get around ok. doctors will tell you that steroids have side effects but i said I do not want to be crippled by this desease I want a chance to cope with it and limit the pain, I am now training using arginine, creatine, hmb, its too hard to talk doctors into giving me steroids again i wish i could but other people give them a bad name with there abuse of them. if you can find a doctor to give them to you I wish you luck.Tonyjames10 (talk) 16:55, 28 May 2009 (UTC) '
Austrealia 2 I think i have this disease or the early stages of it both doc n x rays have suggested so. Mine started 4 years ago when i was 24 i have always been fit and strong up until then. it started as a work injury to my t5 joint which was diagnosed as a joint strain and should fix itself with in 6-12 weeks, after 6 mths i knew i was introuble it still wasnt fixed i tried chiro, anti inflammatries which worked ok but ripped my stomach to bits,i have lived with the pain ever since just trying to block it out, over the last 6 mnths i have had problems with my hip flexors ,ab tears, shoulder problems,i have always had tght thighs and hammies and still that everlasting pain in my back,i have been doing gym for 3 years now with my physio and while at times it holds the pain away other times it feels worthless.i have 4 young kids all under 5 and it has impacted on us as a family but i wont let it beat me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.183.252.92 (talk) 09:25, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

I have had mid back pain since I was 20 or so. I'm now 30, and my most recent x ray has shown degeneration of my thorasic bones, with some scoliosis. Should I go to a Specialist? THe pain is fairly constant, especially at night and I can't sit for long periods. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.167.131.211 (talk) 09:59, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Scheuermann's disease and cross country skiing
editA 1993 study claims Scheuermann's abnormalities were found in 66% of Norwegian national team cross country skiers. Athletes with such abnormalities were found to have started systematic and specialized training earlier (between 10 to 13 years) than those without (between 13 to 16 year) the diagnosis.[1] Raffen (talk) 21:18, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Juvenile Osteochondrosis of the Spine
editThe article is partially self-contradictory since the lead implies that Scheuermann's is Juvenile Osteochondrosis of the Spine, whereas the first section notes that it is a form of Juvenile Osteochondrosis of the Spine. Which is correct? Or do sources disagree? - Jarry1250 [Weasel? Discuss.] 11:50, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
Wonderin what I should do....
editWhen I was about 14 years old, so about 2005 I was told by a orthopedic doctor that I have scheuermann's, I was never really explained to about the disease or anything that can come along with it. Since then I have seen at least 20 different doctors due to back pain, i have explained to them before being examed that I was told i had it, I was then told by those doctors it wasn't a real thing, that all of my back pain was due to being fat, (and a few doctors have used the word fat....). I have now this year found a doctor that has told me again I have scheuermann's for sure, that it is a real thing, and he made me go in for an MRI. Through that MRI we've found I have a narrowing spinal canal with bulging disks. I believe all of my pain and now injuries could've been prevented if the doctors from before would've given me xrays or mris. I'm just not fully sure what anyone should do in this type of situation. So I can help someone else before it's too late for them. if any one has any ideas please post i'd love to hear them! Letterose (talk) 15:16, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

how self-limiting
editHow is it "self-limiting" after growth is complete if the deformity remains? Does this just mean that it stops getting worse? tahc chat 03:17, 5 November 2021 (UTC)
