Parkinson's Law of Triviality says that organizations give disproportionate weight to trivial issues. Sayre's Law is a generalization of the foregoing beyond the bounds of particular organizations, stating that in any dispute the intensity of feeling is inversely proportional to the value of the stakes at issue.
