One Piece at a Time

Mention of this song keeps getting reverted by Doniago as WP:OR. The fact that multiple people would have the same idea is because it’s a pretty obvious example. I’m not sure why we should insist upon WP:OR for this but not all the movie examples given, which are no less open to interpretation. And, unless all those are meticulously sourced, there will probably be someone adding this section every few months for years on end. There is a reference at http://www.dieseltechmag.com/2014/07/one-step-at-a-time but I’m hesitant to use it, lest it be deemed “unreliable,” as this editor seem far more interested in excluding this particular work rather than all the other unsourced ones. The fact that I called out the particular item you attempted to add is by no means a reflection on the quality of any of the other items presently in the article. While I'm personally less likely to tag a sentence that cites multiple examples than a dedicated paragraph or two, editors would be well within their rights to ask for citations for any or all of the movies. The MASH example is also insufficiently cited; the reference simply points to the episode.
While the source you provided at least uses the phrase "salami slicing", I'd be far more comfortable with a source that talked about the use of the concept within the song as less of an aside.
I'd note that there was an inline note pointing out that items added without secondary sourcing might be deleted.
Given the concerns you've raised I've tagged the section for original research concerns. Cheers. DonIago (talk) 20:13, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
http://www.snopes.com/business/bank/salami.asp provides sources for Superman, Hackers, and Office Space. Finding such sources - using web search and/or IMDb - would probably be less work than reverting every one other people add month after month. Calbaer (talk) 20:41, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
Well, IMDb is not a reliable source, and the sources should be ones that specifically mention the occurrence of salami slicing within the films. DonIago (talk) 22:05, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
Web search isn't a reliable source, either. I meant that both could be used to find film reviews. Calbaer (talk) 23:30, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification! DonIago (talk) 12:53, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
