Total rewrite needed
editIn its present form, this article addresses two separate but related topics: the historic figure, Sainte Marie among the Iroquois; and the (now defunct) museum by that name. The museum has been closed for some time now, with no plans to reopen. (Latest plans are for a Haudenosaunee museum at the site.) Perhaps it would be best to refocus the article more clearly on the historic figure? Kind regards, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 21:12, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
1st person interpretation? I don't recall this
editI worked at Ste Marie summers from 1986 to 1988 inclusive and in our day to day work with the public we did third person interpretation.
It would also help to clarify that, for a long time since its creation as a WPA work, it was just a playground. It did not get a living history program until the 1970s. Paul Austin (talk) 16:07, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
Accuracy of the name
editWhen I was in school (Québec and Ontario, 1960s-1970s), we learned about Sainte Marie Among the Hurons, not Among the Iroquois. When was the name changed? BTW, the current historical site is called Saine Marie Among the Hurons. http://www.saintemarieamongthehurons.on.ca/sm/en/Home/index.htm Grandma Roses (talk) 13:12, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- I have this one -- there were two missions. They even have separate Wikipedia pages. Sainte-Marie among the Hurons is in Midland, Ontario. Sainte-Marie among the Iroquois,in Oswego, NY, is the subject of this page. 2601:184:4A7F:7640:D09C:3B25:59BE:7E65 (talk) 20:58, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
